 Executive Summary

          S.R.R.  Government Arts & Science College, Karimnagar, named after the presiding Deity, Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy of Vemulawada, the famous Shiva Temple, was established in 1956 in a modest way under private management. The college was taken over by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1959. Sri.P.V.Narasimha Rao, the former Prime Minister of India was the member of the governing council of this college. The doyen of Telugu Literature and the winner of Jnana Peeta Award, Kavi Samrat Sri.Vishwanatha Satyanarayana worked as the Principal of this premier institution. At present the college is offering 17 Undergraduate and 07 Postgraduate Courses and thus fulfilling the academic needs of the North Telangana Region. The college has well furnished class rooms, well equipped laboratories, TSKC, ELL, full fledged Botany and Zoology Museums, an excellent separate Library Building Block, One 10 stationed multi-gymnasia for Men, a well furnished Auditorium, Seminar Hall and large play fields, surrounded by thick greenery and mango groves. The college has the proud distinction of being headed by eminent academicians like Prof. I.V. Chalapathi Rao, Sri. K.Y.L. Narasimha Rao, who have contributed their mite for the growth and development of the college. Presently the college has the status of an identified, lead college in the district, coordinating the academic activities of the other 15 Govt. Degree Colleges of the District till formation of 31 districts in Telangana State in October 2016. Presently the college has status of Identified College coordinating the academic activities of the other 04 Govt. Degree Colleges of the District. . This college was reaccredited with B (CGPA 2.95) in 2011 and now is opting for 3^rd cycle of re-accreditation.

          As a centre of educational excellence, S.R.R. Government Arts & Science College, Karimnagar has produced several batches of meritorious students who have occupied prestigious positions in India and abroad. Late Prof. J.Anantha Swamy, the former VC of Osmania University was a distinguished Alumnus of this college. Many professors and Heads of Departments in Universities were the proud products of this institution. Not only in the field of education but also in All India Services, Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, Trade and Politics, we find the old students of this college occupying coveted positions. The former M.P. of Karimnagar Parliamentary Constituency, Sri. Ponnam Prabhakar, the present Mayor, Sardar Ravinder Singh, the Chairman of TSPSC Prof.Ganta Chakrapani, Naradasu Laxman Rao, MLC, Sushil Kumar, Control of Board of Studies, Intermediate, A.Satyanarayana,Manager, National Insurance, M.Srinvasa Rao, Share Consultantant, Mr. Vishwaprasad, Head ICICI Bank,  J.Satyanarayana Rao, Advacate,  are some of the old students of this college. About Karimnagar

          Karimnagar is situated on the banks of Manair River which is a tributary of the Godavari River in the Telangana State it is the fourth largest fastest growing urban settlement in the state. This district is rich with natural resources, fertile farm lands and thick natural forests. It serves as a major educational and health hub for the northern districts of Telangana. Being a major beneficiary of Sree Ram Sagar Project the economic growth of the district is further accentuated by major industries like NTPC, Ramangundam and the Singareni Collieries. With score of UG, PG, Engineering Colleges, Two Medical Colleges and Satavahana University, Karimnagar has emerged as the hub of intellectual activity. It is well connected by road, situated 160 Kms from Hyderabad and 70 Kms from Kazipet Railway Junction.

Karimnagar has produced many great personalities. The former Prime Minister of India Late Sri.P.V. Narasimha Rao hails from this district. Jnanapeeth Awardee Dr.C.Narayana Reddy, former VC of Telugu University, Justice Kumaraiah, Prof. Ch.Hanmanth Rao and many other scholars are the sons of soil. Karimnagar has produced 08 Vice-Chancellors of different Universities: Prof.G.Ram Reddy, former Chairman U.G.C., Prof.Jaffer Nizam, former VC of Kakatiya University; Prof.T.Navneeth Rao, former VC of Osmania University; Late Prof.J.Anantha Swamy, former VC of Osmania University and present VC of Kakatiya University, Prof.N.Lingamurthy, Prof.Md. Iqbal Ali, Prof.A.Bhumaiah former VC of Telugu University, Hyderabad.
