PART-A

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college pursues the following objectives in order to ensure quality and excellence:
1. To monitor and review research activities promoting research culture and outlook among the students.
2. To encourage the faculty to acquire higher qualification (M.Phil./ Ph.D./ Post-Doctoral Research)
3. To undertake Minor and Major Research Projects
4. To attend and organize Seminars, Workshops, Study Projects, Field Trips beneficial to the students.
5. To encourage the faculty to attend Refresher/ Orientation Courses to update their knowledge and skills.
6. To motivate the faculty to adopt Interactive and Learner- centred Teaching Methods.
7. To impart Life Skills and Employability Skills offered by JKC, DRC, STP and the Career Guidance and Counseling Cell.
8. To encourage the faculty to Adopt Modern Educational Teaching Aids (Audio-visual) motivating the students to utilize the library and the Internet.
9. To motivate the students to participate in Community Development and Extension Activities of NSS/NCC/Sports & Games.

PART-B

1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution:

To fulfill the vision and mission of the institution various activities have been taken up by improving the quality of teaching. The IQAC of the college monitors the academic and administrative activities for quality sustenance and enhancement.
a. The College has the tradition of encouraging the faculty to participate and to organize National/ State level seminars and workshops to keep pace with the latest trends in the subjects, updating their knowledge and skills and to interact with the academic experts.
            • The Department of Chemistry organized a UGC sponsored National Seminar on “Role of Metal Ions in Reaction Pathways” on 28th and 29th August 2008. The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. N. Linga Murthy, (V.C., Kakatiya University), Key-note address was delivered by Prof. K.Veera Reddy, (HOD, Dept. of Chemistry), Osmania University and Prof. Mohd. Iqbal Ali, V.C., Satavahana University was the Chief Guest in the valedictory. Ten Resource persons interacted with the participants in key areas of the subject. The proceeding of the seminar was edited and brought by the Organizing Secretary Dr.B.Madhusudan Reddy.
             • The Department of Chemistry also organized a workshop on UG Chemistry Practicals in December 2008.
b. To update the knowledge base and to provide a wide exposure to the students in the subject, several departments have arranged extension lectures.
              • The Department of Botany organized an extension lecture on “ Phytohormones” by Prof. B.Mallaiah, Kakatiya University in September 2008, on “HIV” by Dr. Gireesham, Kakatiya University in November 2008 and on “Tissue Culture” in December 2008.
              • The Industrial Microbiology Department organized an extension lecture on “Microtoxins in Food and Feed” by Dr.Gireesham, K.U., in September 2008 on “Bio-monitoring of Aquatic Ecosystems” by Prof. M.A. Singara Chary, K.U., in December 2008 and on “Biotechnology of extremophiles” by Prof. S.Ram Reddy, K.U., in January 2009.
              • The Biotechnology Department organized a lecture on “Antibody Diversity” in January 2009 by Prof. S. Ram Reddy, on “Biodiversity and its conservation” by Prof. M.A. Singara Chary, K.U., in February 2009 and on “Principles of Fermentation” by Dr.S. Gireesham, K.U. in February 2009.
              • The Telugu Department organized Two lectures on “ Sri Sri Sahityam” by Dr.G.Laxman Rao and on “ Telangana Kavitvam” by Annavaram Devendar in November 2008 and February 2009 respectively
              .• The Department of English organized an extension lecture by Prof. G.Damodar, K.U., Warangal on “Modern Indian English Poetry” in November 2008.
               • The Department of Physics organized tow lectures on “Basic Electronics” by Prof. R.Sayanna, O.U. in September 2008 and on “Micro processors” by Sri.Y.Waman in December 2008.
               • The Department of Zoology organized a lecture on “Effect of Cholesterol- Heart Diseases” by Prof.Raghuramulu, K.U., in November 2008.
                • The Department of Computer Applications organized a presentation on “Arrays and Structures in ‘C’ Language” by Md. Rahman, K.U. in November 2008
.               • The Department of Economics on “Indian Five Year Plans” by Prof.Varanprasad, S.U. in July 2008.
                • The Department of History on “Telangana Armed Struggle” by Dr.V.Kishan Reddy in August 2008 on “Iron & steel industry in Telangana” by Dr.Jaikishan in December 2008.
               • The Department of Chemistry on “Environmental Chemistry” by Prof. S.Srihari in September 2008 and on “Combinational Chemistry” by Prof.E. Rajanarender in December 2008.
c. The following members of the faculty are pursuing Minor/Major Research Projects funded by the UGC

  d. Besides the regular Undergraduate and Post-Graduate programmes, the institution offers Certificate Courses in Communicative & Soft Skills, Basic Computer Skills (MS-Office), Tally Course and Communication and Journalism.
  e. The college also offers UG and PG courses through Distance Education of Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Open University Regional Centre and SDLCE of Kakatiya University. The response to these courses and the results are quite satisfactory.
 f. The Library in the newly built Block continues to offers its qualitative services to the students. Latest books & Journals are added to the Library. Better amenities are provided to the students and faculty. The Library has subscribed to five computer magazines, a collection of CD lessons on various subjects and issued to the interested students. Papers clippings regarding the news covered about the activities of the college are collected and kept in the Library. Subject related clippings and career opportunities are kept at the disposal of the students for reference.The Library Department takes the responsibility of showing MANA TV lessons to the students.
 g. The Physical Education Department of the College hosted Kakatiya University Inter-Collegiate Tournaments phase-I in September 2008 and Phase-II in November 2008. The College teams emerged either Winners or Runners up in 12 tournaments out of 16 organized. 14 sports persons of the college represented Kakatiya University in South Zone and All India Tournaments during 2008-09. 23 players got Jobs in South Central Railways and Police Departments under Sports quota during 2008-09.
2. New academic programmes initiated (UG & PG) :

Apart from the existing 17 UG and 05 PG regular programmes the college offers M.Sc. Botany, Zoology and Chemistry courses through distance mode of K.U., S.D.L.C.E.
3. Innovations in curriculum design and transaction:

The college, as an affiliated institution to Kakatiya University, follows the curriculum designed by the university. But the Senior faculty as given below who are appointed as Members of BoS, have a major say in curriculum design and revision of syllabi

In addition to core and allied subjects interdisciplinary approach is adopted in framing the curriculum of Arts, Science and Commerce subjects.
5. Examination Reforms Implemented: All the examination reforms initiated by the University are followed. The exam process is computerized. Practical exams are introduced in Maths, Commerce and English subjects.
6. Candidates Qualified NET/SLET/GATE etc.,:
Post-graduate students are encouraged to appear for NET/SLET exams. They are advised to join coaching classes offered by Kakatiya University during summer vacations.
7. Initiative towards faculty Development Programmes:
05 faculty members are pursuing M.Phil and 03 Ph.D. Staff are encouraged to take up research work and Minor/Major Research Projects.
a. Participation in Orientation/ Refresher Courses:
           • R.Vinaya Sagar and S.Gangadhar, Department of English participated in Master Mentor Training Programme at EFLU, Hyderabad from 25/08/2008 to 12/09/2008 organized by APSCHE, Hyderabad.
            • All the five members of the Department of English attended Cambridge ESOL Training and Certification Programme from 27/06/2008 to 29/06/2008 and Qualified Standard Test held on 03/08/2008 scoring 75-80 % marks.
            • P.Indira Devi, Department of English participated in UGC Refresher Course at Academic Staff College, Osmania University, Hyderabad from 30/06/2008 to 21/07/2008.
           • All the faculty of Chemistry Department participated in the UGC sponsored National Seminar at this College in August 2008.
           • All the faculty member of Zoology Department participated in 2-day UGC Seminar on Bio-Technology at K.U., Warangal in September 2008.

      To inculcate research attitude among the students linkages with the agencies are established and continued The Department of Zoology in collaboration with Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Karimnagar runs certificate course in clinical pathology. The department of Botany has linkage with in the seed processing unit to undertake students’ projects.

16. Internal resources generated:

                 • At the rate of Rs.10/- for each fresh admission is collected and credited to CPDC fund.
                 • At the rate of Rs.3000/- collected from each students who seeks admission in restructured courses and also fee collected from self financed PG courses are credited to the college account.
                 • Resources are generated by introducing certificate courses.
                 • The college ground is also utilized for organizing sports events by various associations. They pay a nominal rent of Rs.500/- towards maintenance charges.

18. Community Services:
     a. NSS Activities:
     There are four (4) NSS units with 250 volunteers functioning in this college under the active guidance of the Programme Officer, viz.,
     Dr.S.Manohara Chary, Sri.T.Rajamani, Dr.P.Rajalingam and Dr.K.Ramakrishna.
    The NSS volunteers are actively taking part in various activities like environmental protection, Health awareness programmes, blood donation, literacy drive and other social service activities.
The following are the highlights of the NSS Programmes during 2008-09
     • 2 volunteers R.Srinivas, B.Sc. III, A.Babu, BA.II participated in National Integration Camp, Tanjavoor, Tamilnadu in July 2008.
     • 4 NSS volunteers participated in the National Intergration Camp at Konark, Orissa from 21st to 25th December 2008.
  b. NCC Activities:
       • Cadet P.Jalander of B.Sc. III bagged prestigious Sahara Scholarship 12,000 for his NCC and Academic excellence.
       • 5 Cadets attended National Integration Camp organized by Kerala Directorate.
       • 3 Cadets attended All India Trekking Camp organized by Gujarat Directorate Camp.
      • 2 Cadets selected for National Cultural Camp held at New Delhi.
     • 8 Cadets got selected as SI and Constables
Eco Club & IYRW: Eco Club & Indian Youth Red Cross Wings are functioning effectively to impart awareness about the Health & Hygiene; Environment and Dangers of pollution through various community programmes.
Health Centre: The center organized Blood Donation Camps with the cooperation of NSS and NCC Units of the college.
Lead India 2020: With a view to inculcate good habits, personality development, character building, service motto particularly among the youth and to make them responsible citizens, Lead India 2020 concept based on social service is established in the college and the club arranged extension lectures on personality development

         • Introduced at all the levels and quality is being monitored for the selection of best teacher on the basis of the feed back by the students.
          • At the end of each academic year, the outgoing students informally give their evaluation of the teachers and also express their suggestions and grievances for the improvement of teaching programems or curriculum.

               • English Language Lab spending 18 Lakhs with 30 systems was inaugurated by Sri.N.Ram, Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu on 20/11/2008.
              • Separate Seminar Hall-cum-e-class-room was inaugurated by Prof. Mohd. Iqbal Ali, V.C., Satavahana University in August 2008.
              • Establishment of P.G. Micro-Biology Lab was established. Inaugurated by Prof. N.Lingamurthy, V.C., Kakatiya University.
27. Teaching upgradation: 

            • Library is automated with SOUL Software of INFLIBNET.
            • Creation of College Website.
            • Preparations for the establishment of e-conference hall.
             • LCD projectors are available for Seminars & Conferences purpose.
28. Computer and Internet access and training to the Teachers and Students:
            All the teachers are being trained to possess skills on computers. Most of the departments are now having computers with  broadband facilities.
29. Financial Aid to Students
             •All the students belonging to SC,ST & BC communities are awarded scholarships. Those residing in students managed hostels are paid mess charges by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.
            • Meritorious students, minority students, handicapped students and children of Beedi workers are liberally awarded scholarships by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.
30. Activities and support from the Alumni Association
           The Alumni Association of the college always extends its helping hand for the upkeep and maintenance of the college.
31. Activities and support from the parent-teacher association
         • The parent-teacher association always offers its feedback in developing the academic quality of the institution.
         • The college on the advice of parents organizes interface programmes between parents, teachers and students in collaboration with reputed companies & other agencies to give guidance on career opportunities and preparing them for competitive & National talent examinations.
32. Health Services:
The NCC and NSS volunteers, other students, staff voluntarily donate in the Blood Donation camps organized in the college. Health camps are arranged in the camp with the cooperation of the Alumni.
33.Performance in Sport Activities:

        • Appreciation certificates are given to the sports persons as a token of their participation.
        • Winners in sports & games and also outstanding players are felicitated. Track suits & dresses including payment TA & DA.
        • Dress code is followed during tournaments; sports persons are supplied with dresses.
        • Gold Medals along with appreciation certificates to the outstanding sports persons are presented during College Day Celebrations every year. • Three Sports Persons secured employment in South Central Railways under sports quota.
35. Students Achievements & Awards.
                • Appreciation Certificates; Gold Medals are presented every year during College Day Celebrations to encourage the quality  and spirit of the meritorious students.

36. Activities of Career Guidance & Counselling Unit:
              Career Guidance and Couselling unit of the college has been quite active in conducting seminars and organizing recruitment melas.
37. Placement Services Provided to the Students: 
           2 Batches of accounting executives have been trained this year in computerized accounting. For these TALLY trained students of 3 Districts of Adilabad, Warangal and Karimnagar Campus recruitment drive was organized on 18/02/2009 at Government Degree College for Women, Karimnagar
38. Development Programmes for Non-Teaching Staff:
          Training in soft skills and computer knowledge is given apart from their regular administrative work.
39. Healthy practices of the Institution:
        • A regular Health Checkup is undertaken to the students and staff of the institution by utilizing the services of retired Civil Surgeon. This activity is a regular feature of the Health Centre.
        • Regular screening of films and documentaries related to social and cultural heritage to create awareness among the students
.       • To promote our tradition & culture, dance & drama events are organized regularly.
40. Linkages developed with National, International, Academic/ Research bodies:
            Most of the departments have established linkages with several organizations.
         • Department of Biotechnology established linkage with local poultry & feed industries.
         • Department of Zoology has established linkage with Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences, Karimnagar and also with local diagnostic centers to create awareness to the students.
         • Department of Botany has established linkage with local Seed Processing Unit and the Department of Horticulture.
         • Department of Economics established a linkage with “Vijaya Dairy”
        • Department of Physical Education established linkage with all Games & Sports Associations, Police Department, Electricity, LIC, Forest, Advocate Association and Deaf & Dumb institutions
 41. Any other relevant information the institution wishes to add:
        In collaboration with The Hindu daily e-plus club was started in the college to improve spoken & written English skills of the rural students of this college to bridge the gap between rural & urban students in employment opportunities. E-plus club was inaugurated by Sri.N.Ram, Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu. Daily practice sessions were conducted by the faculty of English, following the weekly schedule given in the news paper. Many students improved their English proficiency by joining e-plus club. PART-C [ Future Plans of the Institution for the next academic year The college has taken up several innovative activities in the academic, co-curricular, extra curriculum activities, Sports & Extension facilities to mould the institution as a “Centre for Excellence”

            Preparation for NAAC Re-accreditation.
            Strengthening the activities of District Resource Centre of the College.
            Planning to offer more UG & PG courses including certificate courses in computers and lab technology and also to design job oriented courses.
            Strengthening of teaching through teaching aids.
            To organize National Seminars in some more subjects.
            Providing computer & internet facilities to all the departments.
            Launching of college website.
2. Research:

            To involve more staff members in Research activities.
            To encourage the staff to involve in Major/Minor Research Projects.
3. Administration:

           Decentralization of administration.
           Computerization of Office Administration
           Getting feedback through Grievance Redrassal Cell for improving quality management.
4. Extension Activities :

Extension activities through NSS/ NCC IYRW and other supporting services to bring laurels to the college and it will be our endeavor to pursue these activities with more vigor as this has been the major strength of the college. 5. Infrastructure :
          Construction of Indoor Stadium.
          Construction of Golden Jubilee Block.
          Modernization of Science Laboratories.
          Modernization of Office & Auditorium Building.
         Repairing of the College building.
         Beautification and colouring of college building.

CRITERION I: CURRICULUM PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION

The Mission, Vision and objective of S.R.R. Govt. Arts & Science College, Karimnagar is amply reflected in the college motto of “Work is Worship”. Right from its inception in 1956 till today, the college has striven to achieve excellence in providing quality education. Empowerment of Men & Women by developing in them a thirst for knowledge, research, freedom of expression, respect for culture and generating sensitivity towards one’s environment are some of the focal points around which the Institution works.

Ø The college offers seventeen undergraduate courses and seven postgraduate courses in Micro-Biology, Chemistry, Telugu, English, Commerce, Economics and Zoology and 10 Certificate Courses are introduced to cater the diverse needs of  2473 regular, around 350 certificate course students and 1500 distance mode students .
Ø The college adopted Semester System & Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in 2016.  The concept of parallel education runs deep in our curriculum and all departments in the college organize seminars, conferences, study tours and other academic activities to strengthen the teaching learning process.
Ø Continuous Internal Evaluation of the students ensures prompt interventions for the effective transaction of the curriculum.
Ø The various Departments, the Staff Council, committees, student clubs as well as active NCC and NSS units run comprehensive programmes for the betterment of the students in particular and society at large.
Ø Committees like Internal Complaints Committee and Women Empowerment Cell have been created to address the special needs of the women students.
Ø Curriculum enrichment would remain incomplete if technological developments are not incorporated. Hence computer subject is instroduced in most of our UG and PG programme.
Ø The college keeps pace with most of the technological shifts related to education.
Ø Continuous efforts are made to update college infrastructure like the college library, Auditorium Hall, website, college office, the classrooms and labs.
Ø With the latest technology, S.R.R. Government Arts & Science College, Karimnagar has an active TSKC & Career Guidance Cell that not only helps students in getting jobs but also works towards making them employment ready to meet global challenges.
Ø Alfred Lord Tennyson said “Follow Knowledge like a sinking star; beyond the utmost bounds of human thought”. Efforts are made to provide students who are mostly from socially and economically weaker sections of society and often first generation learners with all facilities that would equip them to face the challenges of life with boldness and courage.
Ø Faculty is involved as members of Board of Studies, Satavahana University, Karimnagar.
Ø Feedback is obtained from students, faculty, academic experts and other stakeholders and programmes are revised from time to time.
Ø Curriculum is revised by govt. of Telangana and introduced CBCS system from the academic year 2016-17.
Ø The college has academic flexibility to design and offer job-oriented certificate courses. The results are introduction of Journalism, Social Work, Basic Beautician, Consumer Protection, Water & Soil Analysis, Yoga, Perani Dance, Memory, Library & Information Science and Calligraphy. 

CRITERION II:  TEACHING – LEARNING AND EVAUATION

S.R.R. Govt. Arts & Science College, Karimnagar is a Government college and admissions into various courses are made strictly adhering to the reservation policy of the Government. This year, admission process was online with the portal named DOST initiated by Government of Telangana. Government guidelines are strictly followed throughout the admission process with regards to minimum eligibility, age and reservation for various categories of students till the online process is introduced and same is also followed by Govt. of Telangana. A comparison of admissions into Government colleges in Karimnagar reveals that the college is very popular among admission seekers.  The college has created facilities for differently abled students in accordance with the government guidelines. Only few students who are physically handicapped are there.

Ø Admission process is publicized through the college website, printed prospectus and local news papers.
Ø Committees like the Internal Complaints Cell and Grievance Redressal Cell ensure that no student is at a disadvantage and all are given equal opportunities to acquire knowledge and develop themselves.
Ø Special classes and add-on classes are held to help students keep pace with the needs of the curriculum as many of our students are first generation learners.
Ø Students have access to scholarships.
Ø The college has active NCC and NSS units, Eco-Club, Women Empowerment Cell (WEC), Career Guidance Cell and Sports, Literary and Cultural Committees. These units work towards the overall personality development of students. Activities like industrial trips and filed trips are organized by the college.
Ø There are qualified and experienced teachers holding NET, SET qualified, Ph.D. & M.Phil Degrees.
Ø The faculty is engaged in a number of research projects.  A number of State and National level workshops and seminars have been organized during the past five years, details of which are included in Annexure V.
Ø Faculty is provided opportunities for staff development programmes for upgrading their knowledge and teaching skills.
Ø The college takes utmost care for regular and timely continuous internal assessment of the students.
Ø The Examination work has been computerized to make the process quick, efficient and transparent. The progress of the students is monitored by conducting unit tests. They are motivated to present class seminars and pursue project works.
Ø The evaluation reforms introduced by the affiliating university are followed and the grievances of the students are redressed.
Ø Latest ICT techniques and equipment are used to make learning more efficient.
Ø Sustainable curricular practices by using modern teaching aids like OHP & LCD Power Point presentation, blogs and webiste are followed to achieve academic excellence.
Ø The faculty has received state and national awards, recognition and fellowships.

CRITERION III: RESEARCH, CONSULTANCY AND EXTENSION

The college strives to foster the spirit of research amongst students and the faculty. The college tries to inculcate a culture of learning based on questioning and self access. The faculty and students are encouraged to undertake and pursue research activities. Teachers play a vital role in undertaking and promoting research and they are instrumental in arousing curiosity among students. 

Ø Several faculty members are currently supervising student’s research projects, MBA, M.Phil scholars and are engaged in minor research projects.
Ø The college strives to create an environment conducive to research by granting study leave for Ph.D. and on duty leave for presenting papers and attending conferences as per UGC guidelines and Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Telangana. It supports the faculty members in getting funding from government and non-government organizations.
Ø Faculty members has taken up 14 Minor Research Projects, of which 02 are completed and 01 is ready to submit.
Ø Faculty members are guiding student study project, M.B.A. and M.Phil Projects.
Ø Research articles are published in reputed journals, Text books, Course material and MANA TV lessons are generated by the faculty.
Ø Latest Journals are subscribed.
Ø Consultancy services are offered by the faculty.
Ø The college is responsive to community needs, extension programmes and collaborations.
Ø NCC, NSS and Games & Sports Departments encourage students to participate in various competitions and also in community development and extension activities. 
Ø Information about scholarship programs and funds available for research at different levels is regularly disseminated.
Ø The college provides infrastructural facilities, latest software and ensures that recent editions of books are available in the library.
Ø Academic activities like State and National conferences, seminars, workshops, training programs and sensitization programs are a regular feature of the college calendar.
Ø These activities help in arousing the curiosity of the students and faculty members towards new avenues and provide a platform to share their research and knowledge with a larger audience.

CRITERION IV: INFRASTRUCTURE AND LEARNING RESOURCES

S.R.R. Govt. Arts & Science College, Karimnagar was established in 1956 with few students. By 2016, it has proudly grown into a college that offers seventeen undergraduate courses and seven Postgraduate courses to 2473 students.

Ø  The college is situated in an easily accessible and prime location at Karimnagar.

Ø  The college is spread over 26 acres of land with academic blocks and an administrative block and is full of greenery, Mango and Rose gardens, Model Watershed, Check dam, Vermi-compost plant with peaceful ambience.
Ø  The college has 9361 sq meters of built-up covered area which includes the ground floor and the first floor.
Ø  The Commissioner of Collegiate Education is the chairperson and Principal is ex-officio secretary. They look after all matters pertaining to the infrastructure, academics, finance and development of the college.
Ø  The academic block has 75 class rooms, 10 laboratories, a big auditorium and well equipped seminar hall. It also has a separate TSKC lab, English language lab for effective teaching and learning.
Ø  A separate building for library with reading room and internet facilities and open access system is there. It houses around 50,742 books on all disciplines and has a Reading Room with an e-corner.
Ø  The library is equipped with Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility and internet connectivity for accessing online journals, books and lectures. In addition to this, there is an INFLIBNET portal to facilitate e-learning and providing both in-house and remote access to the required reading material.
Ø  The computer laboratories are equipped with the latest software to meet the needs of the curriculum.
Ø  The college is planning for Wi-Fi enabled zone.
Ø  All the departments of the institution are provided with Internet and Broad- band connectivity for global awareness.
Ø  The college has 01 gymnasium for students.
Ø  In addition, there is a big Auditorium, Digital Classroom at Chemistry, Zoology and Microbiology departments, a research centre near Chemistry department, a big playground and a botanical garden.
Ø  There are 05 well maintained Toilets for Men, Women & Staff members separately.
Ø  There are separate rooms for NCC, NSS and Health Care Centre.
Ø  The college has well equipped Examination Branch for conducting university exams and other competitive exams such as TSPSC, CA, Bank, SI, etc.
Ø  Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University Regional Centre building is an integral part of the institution.
Ø  Taking into consideration the increasing number of students being admitted each year, there is a need to add additional classrooms and laboratories to the existing infrastructure.
Ø  The college proposes to add another academic block in the near future with the help of RUSA grant which has been sanctioned for infrastructural development. 
Ø  The college has power backup in TSKC and computer labaratories to maintain uninterrupted power supply.
Ø  R.O system has been installed to ensure safe drinking water and fire extinguishers have been provided in all laboratories.
Ø  The college has good ambience reach with greenery around the building.

CRITERION V: STUDENT SUPPORT AND PROGRESSION

All round development of the students is the primary objective of the college. All efforts are made to provide facilities to the students for improving their performance in academics, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

Ø  The college encourages its meritorious students by awarding them with Gold medals in Academic festival every year.
Ø  Students from SC/ST/OBC categories and those from economically weaker sections are provided financial assistance in the form of scholarships.
Ø  There are no special facilities for physically challenged students. But supporting staff of the college helps them as and when required.
Ø  The college has a health centre on campus.
Ø  Students are given extensive exposure through various educational, industrial tours and field trips.
Ø  It not only enhances their knowledge and understanding of the subject but also gives them hands on experience.
Ø  Students regularly visit institutes of higher learning, industry and research centres.
Ø  The college has a career guidance cell which with the help of TSKC actively organizes placement drives for students. Many students are placed every year in well-known companies.
Ø  The Grievance Redressal Cell and the Internal Complaints Committee address issues pertaining to the problems of the students.

Ø  This college has a record of excellent examination results and efforts are made to improve the performance of the students with the introduction of CBCS in 2016.

Ø  Special efforts are made by means of practice tests and counselling to help students achieve higher levels of learning and performance in examinations. Mentor and Mentee pattern is instructuced through TSKC in February, 2017.

Ø  The Academic calendar of college is drawn in advance every year.

Ø  Seminars, conferences and lectures by experts in different fields are some of the activities organized for the benefit of students and teachers.

Ø  The NCC unit trains the cadets and gives them exposure through camps and participation in various events like Republic Day Parade and National Integration Camps.

Ø  The NSS units foster in students a sense of social responsibility such as participating in Swacch Bharath, Haritha Haram, Awareness on HIV/AIDS, Blood donation camps, Consumerism, enrollment in Voters list etc. 

Ø  The students are groomed in various sports and games.

Ø  They actively participate in many inter university and inter college competitions.

Ø  The college has cultural and literary clubs and the students are encouraged to participate in inter college and inter university competitions.

Ø  Students are excelling in literary activities G.Sanjeev, B.Com and S.Anil has pen down many literary works for which many awards and Honours were given to them in the State.

Ø  Cultural and Literary activities are also organized in the college.

Ø  The students have won prizes and brought laurels to the college.

Ø  The students are involved in the college activities in many ways.

Ø  Student representatives are included in many of the committees such as IQAC, Women Empowerment Cell, Internal Complaints Committee, Cultural Committee and the Library Committee.

Ø  Feedback from students is obtained on teaching –learning-evaluation, co-curricular and extracurricular activities and support services.

CRITERION VI: GOVERNANCE, LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

S.R.R. Government Arts & Science College, Karimnagar focuses on the all round development of students. The college grooms students to be academically sound and responsible, and to play key roles in building a culturally sensitive and knowledge based society. The leadership and management of the college work towards achieving this objective by providing an effective governance which is participatory and transparent.

Ø  The college has a clear vision and mission, well executed through the programmes in a transparent and democratic spirit.

Ø  Fair and speedy Grievance Redressal Cell is effectively functioning in the college.

Ø  Finances are judiciously allocated and properly utilized through various committees.

Ø  Computer training is given to Teaching Non-teaching staff and office work is computerized to some extent.

Ø  Distinguished Alumni and Retired Staff Association extend full support and contribute their mite to the growth and development of the college.

Ø  The District Collegiate Education and Development Review Committee (DCEDRC) headed by the district collector reviews and monitors the developmental activities of the college on quarterly basis.

Ø  The Commissioner of Collegiate Education is the chairperson of the Governing body which is the apex executive and regulatory body.

Ø  The Staff Council, comprising of Incharges of Departments takes academic and related decisions under the chairmanship of the Principal.

Ø  The Staff Council, the various committees and departments effectively implement these decisions after thorough planning and discussion.

CRITERION VII: INNOVATIONS AND BEST PRACTICES

Ø  The building of S.R.R. Government Arts & Science College, Karimnagar is designed in such a way that it has well lit classrooms, staff rooms, laboratories and administrative block.

Ø  The college promotes environmental consciousness by inculcating the habit of water and energy conservation amongst the faculty, administrative staff and students.

Ø  It strives to make campus pollution free.

Ø  The college has done a Harita Haram Programme for greenery in its campus. A number of steps have been taken to make the campus eco – friendly.

Ø  The campus is planning to go for “no-plastic zone”.

Ø  There is an emphasis on the use of paper bags and cloth bags which can be reused/ recycled and are bio – degradable.

Ø  The college has adopted the practice of promoting environment protection through Eco Club and Harithaharam programme, the Government initiative of greening the State of Telangana.

Ø  High speed Internet, Wi-Fi facility, highly sophisticated software, INFLIBNET and OPAC facilities are available for use of students and staff.

Ø  The Complaint Box, Student counselling, Student feedback, Mentor Mentee pattern (February, 2017) and sustained efforts to develop skills in students from socially and economically weaker sections of society are some of the key features of the innovative measures taken by the college.

Ø  The Women Empowerment Cell ensures that inclusive practices for SC/ST/OBC students have been adopted and all efforts are made to empower the young women by building their confidence and developing leadership skills in them to be active participants in the society and in the nation building process.
Ø  There is a planned team work with complete coordination among all the departments.

Ø  The college publishes College Magazine (Sahiti Chetana), Research Magazine (Vinuthna) and Hand Book (containing the information regarding College Academic, Administrative and Examination activities).

Ø  Literary Forum is functioning to enhance the Literary Knowledge in the staff and students. The result is a national seminar Documention and Dissemination of Liguistic Literary and Cultural Heritage- The Role of Cinema by the department of Telugu.

Ø  Every year all the science departments are demonstrating the basic science practical’s for school and 10+2 students for enhancement of Scientific Temper

Ø  Every year, the department Telugu is conducting the District level Telugu Poet Meet “Maneti Kavitha Ganam” to encourage and develop poetic attitudes in youth.

Ø  727 campus placements achieved during last five years.

Ø  61 Gold Medals are presented to meritorious students every year.

Ø  Century plant by the department of Botany is grown.

Ø  Students study projects are selected for presentation in JIGYASA programmes organized by Higher Education Department, Govt. of Telangana.
